Rabbi Marc Angel, B.A., M.S., Ph.D. and ordination from Yeshiva University; M.A. English literature from the City College of New York.
Each year, thousands of people from different religious backgrounds, races, geographical locations and sociological conditions convert to Judaism. They are a remarkable group of people. What spiritual and personal issues do they face when they decide to accept the Jewish faith? How are they to relate to their non-Jewish biological family members? How are they received within the Jewish community? Rabbi Angel challenges the halakhic community to demonstrate constructive leadership in relating to this important constituency to help maintain the unity of the Jewish people. Explore the issues relating to halakhic conversion, and rethink historic attitudes and policies concerning this significant phenomenon.
The Rabbi Isaac L. Swift Chair of Judaic Studies is made possible by The Rabbi Isaac L. Swift Chair of Judaic Studies Endowment Fund.
