Shabbat with Andrew Summey, Evangelical Zionist

Many Jews are not sure what to make of Evangelical Zionists. Andrew Summey, is a young Evangelical advocate for Israel. A Dallas native, Andrew was brought up in a religious home where his family would pray for Israel’s safety every morning. After high school, he spent a month working in Jerusalem. Then, after getting a degree in Jewish and Christian Studies, he and his wife spent a year in Jerusalem assisting new Russian immigrants. Today he is a staffer with the organization Christians United for Israel, doing outreach in the Northeast. A father of four, Andrew will share his story and take question. Video at the Vilna: Dreamers and Builders

These early builders of the Zionist vision,pioneers of the Third Aliyah and the Fourth Aliyah, were captured on film by Ya’akov Ben Dov, the father of Hebrew film. Now three of Ben Dov’s historic films, Return to Zion, The Rebirth of a Nation and Romance of a New Palestine, considered lost for more than 70 years, have been rediscovered and jointly preserved by the Israel Film Archive and the National Center for Jewish Film.
