When Sunday, March 2, 2008 at 2:00 PM Where Zilker Botanical Garden 2220 Barton Springs Drive Austin , TX 78746 Organized by Bruce Corman (President) Details DATE: Sunday, March 2 TIME: 2:00 pm Contact: Bruce, 636-6999, brucecorman COST: FREE (but bring money for concessions) Location: Zilker Park Free shuttle and parking at State Garage East, 17th St and Colorado Come out to see the spectacular sight of hundreds of kites in the sky and to enjoy a spring day in the park. If we convene around 2:00, we should be able to enjoy the Mass Kite Ascent that occurs after the contest. You can bring the kids, a picnic (no glass.), and dogs on leashes and in T-shirts. You might want to bring kids earlier for the kite workshop.
The Kite Tournament was created by The Exchange Club of Austin, who uses revenues from concessions, kite, and T-shirt sales to help local kids who are in abusive situations and to prevent child abuse. Scholarships are given to high school seniors who have overcome challenges to enable them to attend college.
