A hilarious farce by Michael Frayn Called the funniest farce ever written, Noises Off is a play within a play. It is simultaneously a traditional sex farce, Nothing On, and the backstage farce that the company develops trying to produce it. There is a catastrophic rehearsal, then a disastrous performance. The characters make their exits from the stage into an even worse nightmare backstage. Then back out again. In the end, the two farces coalesce into one single collective nervous breakdown.
