Or Moishe Oysher, the great baritone? How about that old ad for Stuhmer’s bread and the jingle for “Joe and Pauls”? Take a trip down memory lane with radio personalities Alan Walden and Nat Asch, as we reminisce about radio of days gone by.
Alan Walden, acclaimed journalist, broadcaster, essayist, historian and author, famous for his “Walden Ponderings” on WBAL, will headline in April. He’ll discuss news coverage then and now, touching on major historical events that he reported including Robert Kennedy’s assassination, the ’68 Democratic Convention in Chicago and interviews he conducted with Pope John Paul II and President Reagan.
In May, our second session will feature Nat Asch, who has years of experience in sports radio and broadcasting. Mr. Asch will elaborate on the topic of Jewish athletes from way back and how they made their mark. Who can forget the names Marty Glickman and Sam Stoller of the 1936 Berlin Olympics? David Newhan of the Baltimore Orioles? Or Sandy Kofax of the Brooklyn Dodgers? Nat will cover these and more in his presentation.
