The Rock, a huge, pink granite boulder that rises 425 feet above ground and covers 640 acres, is a favorite Central Texas destination. The short, steep trail to the top of the dome and the four mile trail that winds around the granite formation offer spectacular views. Trails are moderate to slightly strenuous. Please RSVP so we know who is carpooling and who is meeting us there. WHAT to BRING: Food and drink for the day, binoculars, cameras, comfortable walking or hiking shoes, and sunscreen. Carpool from Jim's Restaurant parking lot at the "Y" in Oakhill (Hwys 290 and 71 west intersection). Follow Hwy 71 west & veer right at the "Y." Turn left at first light.
