The Humanistic Jewish Shabbat on Saturday, August 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Woman’s Club of Carlsbad, will celebrate individualism as we investigate the Essenes, Jews who settled at Qumran and created the Dead Sea Scrolls. They were a fascinating group of people who would be known today as hippies, cultists, Kabbalists. What is compelling about them is the legacy they gave us in the scrolls.
