This 1948 film was the first to portray the Holocaust from a Jewish perspective. Shot on location in U.S.-occupied Germany, it follows a Polish Jew and his family from prewar Warsaw, through Auschwitz, to the frustrations and instability of refugee life in the DP camps. (Yiddish, German, and Polish w/ new English subtitles; 77 min.)
