Live from New York: The Lost Jew of Kaifeng, China

Tue 15 Feb, 8:15 pm. Hear the fascinating history of Jewish life in Kaifeng, China, beginning in the 10th century with the Northern Sung Dynasty, when the Jews of Persia and India traveled the Silk Road to Kaifeng. Shi Lei, a descendant of one of the original Jewish families, works as a national tour guide of Jewish sites in China. He was recently featured in The New York Times Travel section. Blessed Is the Match

Thu 17 Feb, 7:30-9:30 pm. “Blessed Is the Match – The Life and Death of Hannah Senesh”: Narrated by Academy Award nominee Joan Allen, the multi-award-winning “Blessed Is the Match” follows the remarkable journey of this young Hungarian poet and diarist, paratrooper and resistance fighter. Told through Hannah’s letters, diaries and poems, her mother’s memoirs, and the recollections of those who knew and loved her, the film traces her life from her childhood in Budapest to her time in British-controlled Palestine where she was drawn by the Kibbutz Movement that sought to build an independent Jewish State to her daring mission to rescue Jews in her native Hungary. JCA Concert Series: violinist Noe Inui

Sun 27 Feb, 3-4:30 pm. Sunday, Feb. 27, Noe Inui, violinist and Noreen Polera, pianist: Mr. Inui has appeared as guest artist in concerts with the celebrated pianist Martha Argerich at her Festival In Buenos Aires and at the Llao Llao Festival in Argentina. He has given concerts in Japan at Tokyo’s Suntory Hall and Casals Hall. Mr. Inui has appeared as concerto soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Liege in Belgium, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra in Germany and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Thessaloniki, Greece. He performs on a 1718 Stradivarius violin on loan from the Baden-Wurttenberg State Collection of String Instruments.
