Thu 4 Aug. The Rabbis teach that on Mt. Sinai God revealed to Moses both the Written Torah and the Oral Torah. In this course we will explore the relationship between the two and the different ways in which Oral Torah is expressed. Namely, through close study of several key texts, we will consider the creative modes of textual interpretation the Rabbis of the Mishnah and Talmud used to derive law (halakha), and find endless meaning in the words of the Torah.
