2011 Santa Barbara Walk Now for Autism Speaks

Experience the power of a community united by autism at the 3rd annual Santa Barbara Walk Now for Autism Speaks at East Beach on Saturday, November 5, 2011. The 2010 Santa Barbara autism walk hosted 1,000 people and raised $200,000. Walk Now for Autism Speaks is North America’s largest grassroots autism walk.

Members of the media are invited to attend the event, interview and photograph participants, volunteers and special guests. Registration begins at 8 a.m., opening ceremony is at 9:30 a.m. and the walk kicks off at 10 a.m. The Master of Ceremonies will be Andrew Firestone, a contestant on the ABC series The Bachelor and great-grandson to the founders of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. Powered by volunteers and families with loved ones on the autism spectrum, this fundraising effort generates vital funds for autism research and raises awareness about the increasing prevalence of autism, the fastest-growing serious developmental disorder, and the need for increased research funding to combat this complex disorder.
