Join St. Johns Riverkeeper and local experts as we take a deep dive into issues affecting our community at the start of hurricane season. Experts will be on hand to discuss the impact of rising seas, past St. Johns River dredging projects, and the dredging that is currently underway. “As the Ocean Creeps In,” a recent Times-Union special report, revealed how decades of channelizing and dredging our river has left Jacksonville more susceptible to severe storms, flood events, and rising waters.
Speaker Lineup:
Lisa Rinaman St. Johns Riverkeeper (Moderator)
Nate Monroe and Christopher Hong, Reporters of Florida Times-Union “As the Ocean Creeps In” special report.
Dr. Clay Montague, Associate Professor Emeritus at University of Florida in the Department of Environmental Engineering Sciences

If we do not act now, we will be even more vulnerable as waters continue to rise, flooding becomes more frequent, public infrastructure fails, and our river is further degraded by more sewage and pollution. Now is the time for us to protect our river, to protect our community and to make Jacksonville the most resilient and competitive city on the East Coast.
Free and open to the public.
