Center of New Hampshire in Manchester Mark Foynes, Museum Director Missions of Modernity: U.S. Advertising, 1925-1965 As Americans' wealth increased during the 20th century, so too did the demand for consumer goods ranging from chewing gum to washing machines. The advertising profession grew tremendously during this time and admen were continually creating new ways to get their message in front of the buying public. Participants in this teacher workshop will learn how advertisers innovated during the prosperous Twenties, weathered the Depression, got behind the homefront war effort during WWII, and helped Americans spend unprecedented amounts of wealth during the 1950s and Sixties.
